This technology is solid state with not even a single wire. The side fire button operates electric-mechanically. The electronic VIR chip housed internally can be easily replaced by the user without any tools and just by hand.
In a rare event that if the board ever fails, replacing the VIR chip only requires the user to unscrew the top cap, loosen a pressure fitting stainless steel nut, slide out the VIR chip that is smaller than a thumbnail. I
To install a replacement chip, simply slide the new chip into the side groves until seated, and assemble the parts back in the reverse order. This can be done carefully and painlessly in less than a couple of minutes.
